Firstly, let's clarify something that is frequently confused: translation vs. interpreting. The former refers to written information, whereas the latter refers to spoken information. As similar as they may seem, they are very different practices.

Translation is both a process and a product. Broadly speaking, the translation process consists of transferring the cultural and linguistic information of a source language to a target language.

However, translation can also be thought of as the final product delivered to a client, that is, the result obtained through a series of steps in a translation workflow.

At ALP, we ensure that the following items can be found in our translations:

- Lexical accuracy (no mistranslations)
- Cultural equivalence (sometimes this will require further work if for marketing purposes, please refer to our Adaptation tab)
- Consistency in terminology (different translations of the same word can confuse your readers)
- Target-language-oriented readability (to give the look and feel that your document was created specifically for your target market).
